Can you put Fire Aspect on a mace?
Yes. You can put Fire Aspect on a mace in Bedrock 26.60.
How to add it
The surest way is to combine an enchanted book with the mace on an anvil: Fire Aspect II costs 4 levels on a fresh mace.
/give @s mace
/enchant @s fire_aspect 2What it does on a mace
Fire Aspect works on every mace hit, smash or not. Burning mobs drop cooked meat, and the fire keeps damaging them after the hit. It fits with Density or Breach and with Wind Burst. Fire-immune mobs such as blazes, magma cubes and the wither ignore it.
Step by step
- First, get Fire Aspect II as an enchanted book. Sources: a librarian villager, an enchanting table (on a plain book) or fishing, chest loot.
- Then put the mace in the left slot of an anvil and the book in the right slot.
- Finally, pay the cost shown: 4 levels on a fresh mace, plus any prior work penalty the mace already has.
- If the mace is getting more books, plan the order first so no step costs 40 levels or more.
Why it works
Fire Aspect lists mace among its supported items. That matters because Bedrock checks a built-in list of items for each enchantment.
It conflicts with nothing else a mace can take, so it fits into any mace build.
What it costs on the anvil
First, the base price: on a fresh mace, Fire Aspect II costs 4 levels. Bedrock only charges for the levels a book adds, so small upgrades stay cheap. Each anvil use also raises the item's prior work penalty for the next step.
Order matters. Say your mace already has Wind Burst III, Density V, Unbreaking III and Mending, put on in the cheapest order. That took 3 anvil uses, so adding Fire Aspect last costs 11 levels: 7 for the prior work penalty plus 4 for the book. Planning everything from the start costs 31 levels in total, with no step above 10.
Plan your own version in the calculator or follow the mace enchant order. The prior work penalty calculator shows how the penalty grows.
Where Fire Aspect goes
- Fire Aspect goes on sword, spear and mace. Books on an anvil work on all of them. Related questions: Fire Aspect on axe, Fire Aspect on bow.
Commands and creative mode
With cheats on, hold the mace and run /enchant @s fire_aspect 2. Bedrock's /give can't add enchantments, so /enchant is the way. The command generator writes the right syntax for your edition.
Java and Bedrock
As far as the item list goes, the answer is also the same in Java and Bedrock. The anvil differs, though: Bedrock only charges for the levels a book adds. This page follows Bedrock 26.60.
About Fire Aspect
Fire Aspect sets the mob you hit on fire. Burning mobs take extra damage over time and drop cooked food.
Fire Aspect has a max level of II. If you need a book, you can get it from the enchanting table, librarian villagers and enchanted loot from fishing and chests. Before you buy, read everything about Fire Aspect, including what each level does.
What else a mace can take
Besides Fire Aspect, a mace can take Wind Burst, Smite, Bane of Arthropods, Density, Breach, Unbreaking and Mending. Then the best mace enchantments page ranks them and gives the max build.
